After losing two in a row to challenging ACC opponents, Syracuse finished its regular season with a stunning 2-0 win over the No. 3 ranked Pittsburgh Panthers. The Orange ended the regular season 7-6-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the ACC.
In Syracuse’s first ranked win of the 2024 campaign, Kristjan Fortier got Syracuse on the board early, with a deflected header at 6′ to take the lead. Then the game went scoreless until midway through the second half, when Chimere Omeze found Nathan Scott in the box, who struck to the right side of the net.
Now the Orange meet Wake Forest again. Syracuse lost 2-1 to the Demon Deacons in September, and the Wake Forest men would go on to a 8-4-5 finish, with a 4-2-2 record in the ACC.
